City Theatre Project’s Classes and Workshops
Our program addresses much more than theater arts. It enables students who have traditionally struggled academically to learn and add new tools that will boost their confidence in public speaking, improve their language skills, and enhance their overall academic experience.
Through stagecraft, students will learn techniques to explore what motivates characters to do what they do. By learning to understand these characters, students will become better able to understand themselves and others.
Using the creative process, students will learn to ask questions that lead to higher self-knowledge and improve their ability to consider other people’s needs and viewpoints. This method aids them in honing their own conflict-resolution skills and will enhance their ability for intelligent decision-making.
Student progress will be assessed based upon their participation in the rehearsals and their use of the terms and techniques learned during the entire process. Students’ work can culminate in a public performance, where all students will be featured.
